Closing the gap even more from last year, when Audi surpassed Mercedes in the race to the luxury thrown, the four-ringed superstar stands just over 2,000 cars behind Bimmer to date. Looking at August sales numbers alone we can see that Audi actually outsold their rival by well over 5,000 units.
In the last nine years the new Audi lineup has doubled, we have the popularity of the A range to thank for this, with models like the redesigned Audi A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8.
In addition to the expansion of the new Audi lineup (i.e., the launch of the Q7 and Q5 CUVs) and widespread adoption of Audi models, credit is also due to the automaker's many awards and accolades as well as its wild success in the emerging market of China.
What do you think? Will Audi beat their goal of putting Bimmer in their place - Number 2, or Number 3?
Jim Ellis Audi of Atlanta wants to know. And, if you currently own a new or used Audi, we'd love for you to tell us what exactly prompted your purchase.
