The guidelines used to determine who came out on top were the vehicles' ability to reflect consumer awareness and deliver strong practicality in terms of efficiency, cost of ownership, and resale value. For the 2012 "Motorist Choice" awards, IntelliChoice and AutoPacific polled over 75-thousand drivers who bought a 2012 auto. Participants were asked to measure nearly 50 key vehicle attributes.

 

Some of the key vehicle attributes that stand out for the 2012 Audi A3 include:

 

• Athletic design language defined by features such as a panoramic sunroof.
• 2 Available powertrains: a 140-hp 2.0 TDI clean diesel and 200-hp 2.0TSFI.
• Fuel Economy: 30 mpg city/42 mpg hwy (2.0 TDI)
