What's new with Audi design? Well, they've made it official that they're taking it in a whole new direction. The company's two main prerogatives: 1) Differentiate models more 2) Expose technology as part of future-gen design.
While there are many components to this initiative, there is one strong end-goal in mind: To create a new design that embodies the brand's core and excites discerning luxury car drivers in Atlanta and beyond.
The first new Audi to hint at this direction is the Audi Crosslane Coupe Concept. It successfully meets both of the aforementioned goals. At the same time, it upholds Audi tradition in terms of spirited drive, mesmerizing opulence and dynamic driving experience.
Speaking on the automaker's fixation on creating a never-before-heard design dialect, Wolfgang Egger, Head of Audi Design explains, "Only when design and technology mesh perfectly does an automobile make a statement for the Audi brand."1
One example of where Audi has left its technology exposed in the new Crosslane Coupe Concept is its Multimaterial Space Frame. The lightweight construction is visible at select points throughout the car, paying ode to the engineering feat and imbuing a fresh, industrial edge.
Are you wondering if it's even over-designed? With Audi and their decades of automotive experience, you can rest assure that each model will become an instant classic. Audi, of course, keeps it sophisticated, offering only a glimpse of the cutting-edge frame via the grille, air intakes and sills.
Another important evolution to note is the closer-knit relationship between the interior and exterior of Audi models. The effect will be a much more Spartan interior, which should go a long ways in purifying the driving experience.
