The R8 has built its reputation on being a highly progressive flagship by Audi. It pushes the envelope in terms of its visual identity, power, efficiency and technology. It's a natural target for tuning companies such as America's own APR Tuned, looking to indulge even the most hooked speed friends.
Thus, it comes as no real surprise to Jim Ellis Audi Atlanta that APR Tuned has decided to take a previously revamped version of the venerable Audi R8 - the R8 V10 5.2 FSI - and revamp it yet again. APR Tuned's main goal is to create a sophisticated monster that competes more on an even playing field with the special, limited-edition 2011 Audi R8 GT, which boasts 560 hp, nearly 400 lb.-ft. of torque and a 0-60 sprint time of 3.6 seconds.
We're happy to tell you, they've more than met their goal.
After carefully tweaking the fierce V10 currently found in the R8 V10 5.2 FSI, APR Tuned has successfully amplified power to nearly 560 horsepower (hp) and 411 pound-feet (lb.-ft.) of torque if fueled by 91. Run on 93, those numbers ascend to 583 and 431 respectively. That's pretty good, if you ask us, especially given the fact that the program is still under development.
